DSL services will, over the next few years, replace many existing business data technologies such as ISDN and DDS. Indeed ADSL services are expected to eventually predominate for consumer Internet access, replacing PSTN (telephone) dialup services and today’s analogue modems.

The attraction of DSL services is that they are considerably faster and cheaper than the older services. And in the case of ADSL it becomes possible for a residential user to be surfing the net at high speed and use the telephone to make and receive phone calls at the same time.
